The Watch was formed in 1991, and celebrated 15years of good watching in August 2006.
All residents in the Watch area are members, regardless of whether or not they are financial.
Annual donations are voluntary, and are currently $2 per annum for renewing members, $3 for new members.
Annual donations are used in their entirety on maintaining the Watch.
We are an incorporated, non-profit organisation.
Newsletters, with local content and safety/security information, are distributed monthly to all residents, whether or not financial.
Meetings are held quarterly on the first Tuesday of the month, (February, May, August, November), at 7.30 pm at the Uniting Church Hall, Pt Halloran Road.
All residents are welcome at these meetings, where we usually have a guest speaker on a topic relevant to Watch matters.
The Annual General Meeting is held in August of each year.
The aims of our Watch are
To maintain a Neighbourhood Watch in support of the Queensland Police Service
To reduce the incidence of preventable crime within our geographic boundaries
To assist in the identification and apprehension of offenders
To increase public confidence in the security and safety of persons and property
To encourage community spirit and ownership of our area.
Through the vigilance and co-operation of members and the support of the Queensland Police Service, our crime rate is low.
All members are encouraged to display NHW signage issued to them, to engrave small property items for Police identification, and to enter into the spirit of the Watch by being good neighbours, being vigilant, and recording and reporting unusual or suspicious vehicles or activities.
Engravers are available through Block Co-ordinators, from Zone Co-ordinators.
