The Safe & Confident Living Program is an initiative of the Department of Families, Youth & Community Care and began operating in Logan in March 1998.
The purpose of the program is to provide services to people aged over 60 years who:-
* Feel they are at risk of crime;
* Live alone; or
* Have little or no contact with friends, neighbours, family or the community.
There are several ways in which the program works:-
* By referring people to services, such as community transport, home assist/secure community health etc;
* By holding a series of forums to provide information about crime prevention initiatives and to giveaccurate information about low risk of crime towards senior citizens of Logan City;
* By publishing a regular newsletter which is distributed through senior citizen centres, meals on wheels,respite centres, community centres and other service providers for older people in Logan City.
This is a totally FREE service.
